DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
Materials needed:
Fiber Wrap Repair Wrap.
Gloves (use waterproof gloves - cleaning gloves, surgical gloves, lab gloves).
Water (can be tap, sea, lake it doesn't matter).
Optional (recommended):
Sandpaper (any roughness).
Electrical tape or equivalent waterproof material (used for pipe repair).
Steps:
1. Prepare the surface:
NOTE: Prepare the surface before opening the Fiber Wrap patch.
1.1. Clean the area with your preferred cleaning solution, and remove any dirt, grease, and dust particles. Ensure the surface around the break is clean.
1.2. Roughen the surface with sandpaper if the surface is smooth (PVC, painted metal or wood) and make sure you can feel the groves with your nail. This helps Fiber Wrap to adhere better.
2. Put on gloves:
NOTE: To remove resin from your hands use your preferred cleaning solutions (alcohol, heavy-duty hand soap, foam degreaser).
2.1. Put on your gloves - provided or use your own (you must use waterproof gloves like cleaning gloves, medical gloves, chemical resistant gloves) to protect your skin from resin.
3. Dip Fiber Wrap in water:
NOTE: Any type of water can be used to activate fiber wrap - tap water, seawater, pond water, dirty water, rainwater, snow moisture... but water must not have big dirt particles and substances / materials that would interfere with epoxy (acids, paint thinners, degreasers)
3.1. Open the packet and take out the Fiber Wrap.
3.2. Before applying dip Fiber Wrap in water for about 5 sec! (you can also spray water on the wrap or only drip water at the end of the repair, but for the fastest results we recommend doing it beforehand.). After dipping the wrap in water, squeeze out any excess water.
4. Apply the tape around the broken spot:
NOTE: When repairing big pipe or hose leaks, cover the leak with electrical tape or equivalent waterproof material and then apply Fiber Wrap to completely seal the leak.
4.1. Start wrapping the tape tightly around the broken area. Ensure you cover the break completely with several layers of tape. Overlap each layer by about half the width of the tape to ensure a strong bond.
5. Finishing repair:
NOTE: Cure time can be sped up by adding more water after wrapping is finished.
5.1. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for Fiber Wrap to harden (it takes 24hr to fully cure), then the repair is finished and after 15 minute cure, item can be used again.
Tips:
Work quickly as the tape starts to harden as soon as it is activated, so work quickly.
Overlap and apply multiple layers for optimal strength.
You can also cut the wrap into smaller pieces if needed.
How to store Fiber Wrap packet?
Keep the Fiber Wrap packet out of direct sunlight, and make sure that the packet air-tight seal won't be broken by sharp objects (razor knives, scalpels, needles) before using Fiber Wrap.
What to do if air-tight seal has been broken?
Immediate Use:
If you notice the seal is broken, try to use the tape as soon as possible.
Re-Seal:
USE Airtight Container: Place the remaining tape in an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag. Ensure it is sealed tightly to minimize further exposure to air and moisture.
USE Vacuum Seal: If you have access to a vacuum sealer, use it to remove as much air and moisture as possible from the storage bag.
Check for Hardening:
Before using the tape, check if it has started to harden. If it feels stiff or brittle, it may no longer be usable.
Unfortunately, once the seal is broken, the tape’s effectiveness can be compromised. If the tape has already hardened, it will not be usable.
Thank you for choosing Fiber Wrap! We appreciate your trust and look forward to serving you.
